DISHONOURED CHEQUES

CLAIM FOR £7OO ALLOWED. AUCKLAND, November 24. Judgment 1 in a claim for the payment of £7OO on account of dishonoured cheques was given •by Mr Justice Smith in the Supreme Court to-day. The claim was brought by William Alfred Webb, of Auckland,* tobaccoxlist (Mr R. P. Hunt), against Pansy May Lilley and lirnest Li Hey. At various times, said plaintiff he" cashed cheques for a total amount of £7OO. These were Mrs Lilley cheques cashed at the request of her husband and endorsed by him. All the cheques had been dishonoured when they were presented at the bank. Plaintiff notified the defendant Lilley in each cas* that the cheques. presented had not been paid. His Honor gave judgment for plain tiff and allowed interest at 8 per cent and costs on the highest scale.
