GRAND LODGE COMMUNICATION, illy Telegraph—per press AssuciaU,<u.y CHRISTCHURCH, November 26. '} he annual communication ol : the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zeunuiu was held at Cmistchurch to-day. The Grand Master, J. J. Carlo C.ii.E. of Dunedin presided. I lie election of the new Grand Master resulted in the unopposed return of Lord Bledisioe. J. H, Darkness of 'Westport was elected pro Grant Master. I.he statement of finances showed the aggregate balance of the various funds of the Grand Lodge were £133,795, as against £127,405 last year, Three new lodges were consecrated in the year—Pukemiro, First Temple (Auckland) and Chevalier, bringing the total number of lodges on the register to 303, with a membership of 2i,259, a nett increase of 305. The advance in arrangements for the establishment of a Masonic home for boys in Auckland was reported. Last year an Auckland freemason presented to the Grand Lodge an area of land at Papakura for the purpose. Since then the donor had executed a trust appropriating certain properties, mortgages, shares, debentures and other assets of an estimated value of £59,265, as an endowment for the proposed Home and trustees of the Grand Lodge have accented the trust. The institution is intended for the reception of sons of freemasons not less than three years of age. Auckland was chosen as the place for the next annual Communication.
