A BIG DROP.)

AUCKLAND, November 25
. Three years ago : at the first wool sale of the New Zealand series the opening bid for a line of . good crossbred fleece was seventeen pence. This morning the equivalent was .ssd, at the sale, where 20,300 bales were catalogued (including about 5,0000 of last seasons) bo far a? the sale has proceeded the only demand is for better class crossbred hoggets, for; which there was * a fair inquiry at 5d to 6d, which only fleeces were bringing and only 4d to 5d for lambs’ wool which was comparatively neglected and seeded lines brought only a penny to“ 2d, * 1 There were similar bids for necks, bellies, and pieces, so that it may be said' such; oddments were practically thrown away. The top price so far was 7&d for a line of halfbred super. Most of the buying has been done on behalf of Germany, with one or two exceptions, Brndford is not in the market which is taken to indicate that )ow as the prices are they are still above Bradfords idea of value.
The quality of clip was much on n par with previous years, Some good clips failed to realise value through the grower? neglecting to skirt properly and take out bellies. It is expected the sale will be completed in time for buyers to leave for Wanganui to-night, the second sale taking place there on Friday.
