There have been no fresh developments in the search for the missing man, Ernest Mansfield Burr. Members of the police force yesterday again made an extensive search of the bush in the Marsden district extending over a distance of more than twelve miles from the residence of the missing man. In the course of their operations, the police have dredged the pond where the Maori Creek dredge is lying, but without result. The search was being continued today ,

The rough weather of last week, and the moderate fresh in the river, haye combined to make the Grey bar difficult of negotiation during the last week or so, and as a consequence shipping in the Port of Greymouth has been held up to a considerable exextent. There are seven boats in the harbour, three,of which, the Kartigi, Kalingn and Ramona, completed loading about five days ago, and have siii’oe been awaiting a favourable opportunity to saili. There are also three vessels, the Ivaimai, Kiwitea and the Kamona, all of which have been forced to wait, —the Kaimai since Saturday night,—for the bar conditions to moderate. On Saturday the conditions improved enough to allow the Kahika and the Titoki to arrive, r.nc! the Orepuki arrived on Sunday morning, but no departures have taken place for some days.

A meeting of the local committee of the Hokitika branch of the R.S.A., was held at the Soldiers’ Hall • last evening. Present: Messrs D. J. Evans (President), T. Stuart, R. J. Appleton., W. Bade, J. E’ade, R. Paterson, T. Lynch, C. Hart J. Meuzies and Bleach. Apology was made for the absence of Mr Brown. Headquarters refunded £1 7s 6d on account of fares, and notified, applications were called for the position of assistant Secretary, also notified procedure in application for railway concession for returned man. The Christchurch Society asked co-operation with request to Pensions Department in regard to special cases, and it was resolved to agree to course suggested. The Secretary reported a surplus of £ls 14s lQd from the old time dance and £9 13s Od from the social reunion. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded all who had assisted with the functions. It was further reported that the actual membership had now increased to 54. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £99, and accounts were passed for payment. It was resolved to make every effort to push the sale of art union tickets to he drawn on New Year’s Eve, and with the proceeds meet accounts to the amount of £SO accruing in January, It was- decided to extend congratulations to Mr W. E. Lend ley on his appointment to the Unemployment Board. One honorary member, Mr MoMullan was elected.
