N.Z. SQUADRON. NORTH ISLAND CRUISE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.! NEW PLYAIOUTH Nov. 23. Five aeroplanes, comprising the No. One Bombing Squadron of the Territorial branch of the Air Force, arrived at New Plymouth on Satuday morning from Auckland in unfavourable Hying weather. The machines were in charge of Squadron-Leader Seabrook. They remained the night at Bellblock Aerodrome.. This morping the direct, route to Hnwera overland, being via Mount Egmont, was barred by heavy clouds and rain, so the squadron flew over the sea. around cape,, Egmont, safely reaching Hawera, after a very squally flight. After a rest of an hour the machines continued to Feildiug. The return to Auckland will be via Hastings and East Cape. This is one of the first of such organised flights undertaken by the force.

-GARAGE FIRE. GISBORNE, November 24. A garage aiid implement shed of Y . G. Ricard’s at Jlaugitukia was destroyed by fire early this morning. Gisborne, railway delegation, under the presidency of the Mayor, sent the Acting-Prime Afinister a request that the Parliamentary Committee investigating the railway construction programme should visit Poverty Bay to gain first band information regarding potentialities and prospects for the railway and future development of the district. AVe maintain, the delegation states, that the district can never be adequately served by road, and strongly protests against the action of the Public Works Department in putting off men; thus stopping the progress df the work..

CANCER RESEARCH. HASTINGS, November 24. At a public meeting yesterday it was Unanimously decided to form a Hastings Committee of the N.Z. Cancer Research Society. The sum of £262 was donated at the meeting. Campaign committtees were formed and it is confidently anticipated that three thousand sterling will be collected in 30 days. , , t , .
