UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD
PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, November 18. The personnel of the Unemployment Board was announced to-night by the Minister of Labour, Hon. S. G. Smith. He said that the Governor-General had approved of the following persons to be members of the Unemployment Board, which is to assist in the administration of the Unemployment Act, passed during the recent session. The surnames are given first:— GOVERNMENT NOMINEES. Burdekin, Hugh Black, public accountant, Wellington. Finn, George, merchant, Auckland. PRIMARY INDUSTRIES. Small, Patrick James, farmer, of Kgiranga. SECONDARY INDUSTRIES. Hutchinson, Francis Leigh, company secretary, Christchurch. WORKERS’ ORGANISATION. Bromley, Walter, President of the Trades and Labour Council. Wellington.
Meßrine, Oscar, waterside worker, Auckland. N.Z. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.
Leadle.v, Walter Edmund, secretary, Christchurch.
The appointments will date from Thursday, and are. for a term of two years.
Mr Burdekin will be deputy chairman of the Board, stated the Minister, and the first meeting of the members will be held in 'Wellington on Tuesday next.
It is estimated that the task of issuing registration certificates in connection with the Unemployment Act is now almost completed. About 450,000 certificates have been issued. The work of compiling the register is now commencing.
