MURDER CHARGE
VERDICT OFI INSANITY. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, November 17. Reverend Peter Carmichael-Marr. of the Church of Scotland,, was arrested at Leith on August 13 on the charge of murdering Janies Dalgleish, whom he shot with a revolver. Delgleish was walking along a street. Shots were heard, and Dalgleish fell to the ground. He died before reaching the hospital. The medical evidence at the trial discloses that Carmichael-Marr believed himself to he the chosen instrument of providence on the shooting. Several doctors gave evidence that Carmichael-Marr was suffering from delusional insanity, and that he believed that his act was justifiable. Letters which Carmichael-Marr wrote to the Lord Advocate contained some remarkable passages. One declared:— “I am entirely blameless. I can resume my duties with still greater devotion and deeper fervour and spiritual understanding.” The verdict was that CarmichaelMarr was insane..
He was sentenced to he detained during the King's pleasure-:
