RADIO PROGRAMME

TUESDAY. NOV EMBER . 18th

Auckland possesses many fine musical organisations and one of the foremost is the /Aeolian Orchestra, conducted by Mr Gerald T. Lee. This orchestra will broadcast from IYA this evening, on, relay from Lewis Lady Hall. The programme to be supplied is one that will appeal to all Two members of the orchestra will ap pear as soloists, Mr G. Harder playing the piccolo number, “The Comet,” with orehestrial accompaniment, and Mr W. Dcbhani, playing a very little heard instrument the glockenspiel, in a number entitled “The Butterfly.” The vocalists for the evening will lie Miss Molly Atkinson (mezzo-soprano) and Mr Karl Atkinson (baritone). Altogether, . this should prove an excellent programme in every way. Variety will be the feature of 2YA’s orogramme. Baritone solos will be given by Air S. E. Rodger, mandola and mandolin solos by Mr Lad Haywood and popular songs by Airs R. A. Sloan. Air Andrew Bolton will be featured in yodelling solos and Air Will Bishop and Aliss Elsie Croft.will entertain with original numbers. The Salon Orchestra, under Mr ,M. T. Dixon, will play light numbers. Bright selections, some of which have never appeared before on band programmes in New Zealand, are to he presented by the Dunedin Tramways Band at 4YA. Of particular interest ill the selections will be a suitp by Rimmer, “A Summer’s Hay,” a fantasia by' Greenwood, will be played. Two new marches “Friendship” and “Badge of Honour” are also on the programme. Assisting artists will be Miss Elsie MePeak (ekv utioniste). Air James Paterson (Scottish humour). Air AfcCow (clarinet and saxophone novelties), Aliss Myra Stokes (contralto), Air J. Swan (tenor') and Aliss Eeiehlev (soprano'). Aliss Feichley is a new radio , artist.

WEDNESDAY S NOVEMBER. l?th. This evening’s TYA programme will be presented by the Auckland Piano Students’ Association. A feature of the recital will be some examples of two-piano work. In the course of the proemmme the shades of Beethoven and Chopin will discuss the present state of music from an instructive and entertaining angle. The dialogue will be conducted by Alessrs Karl Atkimnn and AY. E. AfcAlicbael. The vocalists will be Air AV. E. Alieheel. Aliss AYinifred Hill, Aliss Patti Solinackenberg and Air Tom Copsey. For a period of forty minutes this evening 3YA will be carrying out a relay from the Civic Theatre where, the Roval Christchurch Musical Society will he giving an entertainment. Owing to copyright restrictions the remainder of the programme, a presentation of “Cavr’leria Rustic-ana,” can net lie. broadcast. The portion to be relayed will be a cantata, “Life,” a. poetical work bv A\ T ordswortli set to music bv Air Arthur Lilly, A.R.C.0., the well known Christchurch musican. The cantata chorus of 2’'o voices and f'dl arches' a. under the conduct-orshin of Air AV. H. Dixon. L.R.A.M.. A.R.C. Al. The baritone soloist will be Air R. J. Laurensen. of Ashburjon. In the supplementary programme from 3YA, Aliss Cecily Audibert, an outstanding singer of the professional stage, will be featured. The Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Choir will provide 4YA’s entertainment, when a concert will be relayed from the Dunedin Town Hall. The nrogranime will be of great interest to all listeners as the choral works include manv popular part songs. The vocal soloists will be Aliss Afeda Paine (soprano), Aliss Margaret Howden (contralto). Air J. Adair (tenor) and Air J. Keenan (baritone). Air Charles Martin, will May a, pianoforte solo and there will be flufe solos by .Mr J. Stewart. Sdent dav at 2YA.
