AVIATION

THE DORNIER DO-X

NOT CROSSING ATLANTIC.

(United Press Association—Dy Electric

Telegraph.—Copyright.)

LONDON, November 16.

The “Daily Express” Berlin correspondent says that although the Do-X living boot is likely to continue its flight, to the Azores Islands, the idea of a trans-Atlantic flight has, practically been abandoned. Several incidents during the preliminary stages have caused the plane’s designer to reconsider the project. At the present. period of the year it is extremely foggy, and it is over-risky to attempt to refuel in mid-ocean. A message from Bordeaux states that the French police were called out at the instance of Dr. Hornier to guard the Do-X which is in danger of interference from souvenir hunters. To-morrow fifty Frenchmen will he invited to' make a short flight in the flying boat, DORNIER’S DO-X. 'Received this day at 1.5 p.m A LONDON. November 17. It is understood the Do-X is postponing the Atlantic flight until new British 'engines are fitted. Dornier, while in England last week, arranged the equipment of eight nine-hundred horse power rolls royce engines to replace the 12 six hundred horse-power engines at present installed. He calculated the removing of the two pairs of tandem engines will give on increased performance owing to the lessened resistance.
