The Dorn ier l>ox took ofF for Bordeaux on another (stage of its Atlantic Hight after several unsuccessful attempts to rise. Lady Drummond ITay was left behind apparently losing her direction in the fog. The commander decided to wait five minutes but she did not appear. Then a flag was dropped and the engines were (Started and the Dox was taxied out into the open water.

Another passenger, a noted test pilot. Captain Baird, nearly missed the Dox. He chased it in a motor launch and jumped oil to the float and disappeared through the main door as fl.p Dox headed for the taking ofr point.
