JURY AWARDS DAMAGES

COMPENSATION FOR LOSS OF HUSBAND.

WELLINGTON, November 12

Damages amounting to £IOSO were awarded Mrs Rose May Blake in the Supreme Court to-day in her claim of £4OOO against Lawson John August, insurance canvasser, of Lower Hutt, following an accident which resulted in the death of her husband, Francis Edward Blake.

With the exception of one incident on the day in question, August said he was unable to-day to recollect anything of the accident. FW three weeks August said he was unconscious, and medical evidence was called to show that in such cases a lapse of memory was not uncommon. He denied that any affliction of the left eye-lid affected his vision.

The jury deliberated for three and a half hours.
