The Treasurers of all States, including Mr Lang, attended a meeting of the Loan Council presided over by Air Lyons. Surprise that Sir Robert Gibson. Chairman of the Commonwealth Bank Board had not been invited to attend wais expressed by the Premier of Tasmania, Afr McPliee 'on his' arrival at Canberra. The meeting, he said, was of a most vital nature and it might have been expected that Sir R. Gibson would have been asked to he present in an advisory capacity. Early proceedings of the Council were formal and no official statement was made after the first session.
