EVASION OF INCOME TAX

£2,850,000 IN PENALTIES. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, November 11. The report of the Select Committee on the Public Accounts details two extraordinary cases of income tax evasions. Tile first one of £857,000, escaped assessment upon which £384,000 tax was payable. That case was settled for £550,000 in duty and penalties. The second case was one of £53(5,000. There was an omission to return the liability of £381,000. Half a million was accepted as settlement in this instance.
