Airs Stitcs said she lived at 'A iiliantson Avenue, Grey i.ynu.* Brogan had 'boarded with her for live years, but bad left recently. On the evening of October fil'd, lie bad knocked at the door and forced his way in. “He called us a lot off thieves.” said witness. “Then he punched me in the lace and knocked me down.”
Relying to the Magistrate, witness said that she had had a lot ol trouble with Brogan. He owed her about CIS. Air Bryce Hart (who appeared lor Brogan): lie tells me that he was in town that night. 1 think lie has an alibi.
Evidence that Airs Stitcs had a black eye on the evening of October bid was given by a girl who was passing the house at the fine of the affair and by a constable in the Newton Station, where Airs Stitcs laid her complaint. Brogan denied that he had hit the woman. She had threatened him, ho said. She had sad.: “We’ve got you before, and we will get you again.’ “And she’s got you again,” said Mr Hunt.
Evidence was given by Airs Brogan and her daughter that, together with Brogan, they were in town on the evening mentioned.
Brogan was fined C-T, in default seven davs in gaol.
