No Leave of Absence For a Week
El) UCATION A PPOINTM ENTS. AUCKLAND, Nov. 5. Except in special cases no teacher in the Auckland Education District who lias been permanently appointed to H-ny position will be granted leave of absence before December 31 in the year following the year in which lie or she ijs appointed. A decision to tins effect was made 'by the Auckland Education Board at ' a meeting this morning, when Air E. 0. Bonks moved a notice of motion on the subject. “■;[ think i.t is the right thing to do/' said Mr Banks. “We have enough of this changing about without our teachers tripping off to England after they have received an appointment. My motion will give teachers notice that the board does not want that sort of thing, and will let them 'know that they are not bojpg harshly treated when their applications for leave are turned down. “This ijs a revolutionary motion and should not be enforced straight away,” said Mr E B. Sims, in second ill? the motion. At his suggestion it was agreed ter bring the new regulation into force at the beginning] of next year.
