FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7th
Under the auspices of the British Empire Cancer Campaign, Dr. Kenneth Mac Cormack will broadcast from IYA, a talk on Cancer. The whole of the evening’s programme from IYA will be given bv Air H. Barry Coney and his company. Air Coney is one of the foremost musicians ot New Zealand. He will bring with him to the Studio this evening many artists of outstanding merit. The vocalists will include Mrs Eric Yates,, Air B. Turner, Mrs Howie, Air W. Kerr, Aiiss Eva Russell and Air A. Turner. There will also be vocal solos by Air Coney. Assisting on this programme will he the Studio Trio, amongst their items being a violin solo by Air Whit ford Waugh and a ’cello solo by Aiiss Lalla Hemus.
2YA’s programme will feature the Etude Quartet in vocal gems from the musical comedy “High Jinks.” Elocutionary items will be given by Aiiss Elsie Cox. The Orchestrina under Signor A. P. Truda, will play supporting numbers including a “Vaise Lente” composed by Air Claude Tanner, the ’cellist of the 2YA Orchestrina. Another item of interest will be a piano solo by Mr Ernest Sharp, who will play a waltz of his own composition. This evening will see the first appearance of the Lichfield Male Voice quartet at 3YA. The personnel is Alcssrs H. J. Francis, G. T. Richie, P. Caithness and W. Cotton. The quartet will delight all music lovers. Among tlieir solos will l>e, “Captain Mac,” “J did not know,” “Spanish Gold” and “Friend o’ Aline.” There will be a tenor and bass duet, “Mate o’ Mine.” Also on the programme will be Airs T). W, Stallard (contralto), singing old favourites. Aiiss Gwen Webster, a blind girl, will contribute mandolin guitar items, ’cello solos will bo played by Air Harold Beck and there will he items by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. At 4YA, tlie Winkel-Lanrpen Radio Players, assisted by some of the finest sketch artists in Dunedin, will present two half-hour plays namely “TJie Grand Cham’s Diamond” (by Alonklibuse) iand “followers” (by Brighouse). The Studio Trio will provide all the instrumental music on the same programme, and Miss Olga Wynne (soprano) will present three exceptionally fine classical solos.

'ihe contributing artists on 2YA’s '-’a tide vi lie program me will be Meiodie Four, Mr It. Stratmore, (who plays concertina sobs), Miss Majurie Bennie (contralto) } Mr W ill Bishop and the Salon Orchestra. The Melodie four items will comprise quartettes and solo numbers. Mr Will Bishop, the popular comedian, will entertain listeners in his usual inimitable stylo with some of his own compositions.
From 3Y A and 4YA, a great variety of items will be broadcast. Popular songs will be sung by Mr Leslie Stuart and bass sols by Mr Leslie Fleming. These latter , will be “Glorious Devon,” “Nancy Lee” and “Gipsy John.” The Rose and Thistle Duo will contribute popular songs at the piano with banjolene. Mr A. E. Hutton one of the finest flautists in Christchurch, will play two items. Mr N. Newson will give two sketches at the piano and a popular instrumental programme will be provided by the Studio Octet.
