GOLD MINING INDUSTRY
The time lias arrived when we must have more gold and some defin te action must be, taken up, by the present Government. It would be a disaster to this country if we were to allow the Gold Mining Industry to die out. Gold is a very needful commodity and should receive all encouragement lor its production. Gver since man became civilized lie has been possessed with the desire for gold. There is a magic quality as golu in itself is not worth the movement of a muscle to obtain if it did not possess that quality in making the lot of man happier. It only needs a rumour of gold to send men flocking in the direction o ftlie find and more in quest to win it for themselves. To day the easily reached gold deposits have been worked out and new fields have, to be discovered. State aid is the only stimulus that will assist to restore the industry into prosperity, if new fields were discovered it would mean a general revival and woiul materially assist in relieving some of our present unemployed. A more systematic method of prospecting under expert direction guided by past geologists of who Sir Julius von Haast, Hutton and others not forgetting the well-known prospector Charlie Doug las who furnished valuable information regarding the formation and condition of the West Const for the guidance of the future generations and those records can still he made useful and some life put into the work, Financial assistance will not be given from outside source unless the Government show in a tangible manner support ng and encouraging the industry. The mineral resources cf the West Const offer possibilities and would add to the national wealth of the country.
