MOTOR CYCLE SHOP BURNT,

.DUNEDIN, Nov. 5

The motor cycle shop of W. [&. Justice and Coy was gutted by fire this morning. By quick work the brigade saved the work room at the back, where many oars and cycles were stored, but a just landed consignment of motor cycles was extensively damaged. The top storey was rented as flats and the brigade removed the occupants by use of electric ladders. The building was owned by the firm and insured ( in the Yorkshire office for £SOOO. The stock, etc., was coviered by Yorkshire other offices for £7500.

AUCKLAND FARMERS UNION

AUCKLAND, Nov. 5.

Tho Auckland Farmers Union Executive special meeting to-day refused to nominate anyone as a member of the Unemployment Board, Opinion was expressed that no good purpose would be served by nomination as the Union protested against regarding unemployment as permanent also against setting up organisation to create and adiministea* a T>ermanent fund of a million yearly by additional taxation. Money for relief should be obtained from a consolidated fund and if extra taxation is necessary then by a tax on luxuries. All relief work (should be contract or piece work at a. rate- less than the standard wage with distinction, between married and single men.
