MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3. The Committee met at 7 p.m. Present : —Messrs A- C. Armstrong (Chairman), Y‘ r ' , Shannon, J. J. Breeze, F. CH~.'..man, R. ,1. Redder, H. R. Swenoy, J. Conning (Hon. Sec),, and Airs J. f|. Wilson. An apology was made for the absence of Air Richards. The minutes were confirmed and correspondence outward -approved. INWARD COR R KSPOKDENGK. Emm Canterbury Education Board notifying visit of Director of Schools to Hokitika—Received. From Dental Nurses reporting for Month Aliss James 291 operations, 173 attendances; Aliss Gardiner 226. attendances, 136 operations.- Referred. .From Ilariliari Committee enquiring ns to visits of Dental Nurse—Received. It was re-solved to enquire from tiie Dental Nurse as to her proposed procedure, tip. matter being left to the Chairman and ,Secretary to enquire into and reply.

RECTOR’S REPORT. I beg to report on the working of the School for the period ended 31st October, 1930. ATTENDANCE. Sk^undrOy:—-P -1 sen t roll number, 1 Boys, 51; Girls 45; Total 96; Average attendance for the period, Boys ! 47.1; Girls 42.6; Total 89.7. Primary Present roll number, Boys 168; Girls 164; Total 332; Average attendance foir the period, Boys 157.3; Girls 150.6; Total 307.9. Staff:—Aliss U. Dale is still absent on sick leave, and at present it is J
impossible to obtain the services of a relieving teacher. Visit;—To-dav the school was visited by the Director of Education aeedmpitfired by the Assistant Director Pleasing reference was made by the visitors to the appearance of the School grounds, Mr Strong inspected the accommodation of the School. Tho’School Fair:—Efforts have -boon made to give prominence to the School Fair to bo held on Wednesday, and there are indications of liberal response by the public. Medical Inspection :—-Dr Bakor-Mc-Laglan is at present inspecting certain classes in the Seho-01. It is rather surprising that after seventeen years’ consecutive work, many parents still do not seem to appreciate the benefits the system offers. The main idea of the examination el’ Standard 6 pupils is to discover any physical defeats that should be taken into consideration in the selecting of the child’s career. Of course, the, majority of our children are physically fit for all tho ordinary forms of employment which may come their way; but occasionally there are children who require (special consideration, and it is these, of course, that tho system of Medical 'lnspection aims at to help most.—Received. The Treasurer’s report was received. Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. j Tire Visiting. Dental Nurse for additional window space.—Received. It was resolved to draw the attention of the Board’s foreman to the repairs necessary and to defer (onsideration to suggested clinic operations.
The Chairman reminded members that the. School Fair was taking place on Wednesday.
