RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th. Aliss Patricia McLeod, lyric soprano, operatic solos on lYA’s programme for this evening, “The Doll’s Song” from “Tales of Hoffimam.” ATiss Molly Atkinson, mezzo-soprano, another premising young singer, and Mr Hugh Woods, bass-baritone, will also be heard. Instrumental items will be provided by tin* String Octet. Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. will give a further Topical Talk and Air Karl Atkinson will give another of his popular gramophone lecture-recitals, this time on “Voices of the Orchestra.” Tuesday night is “Popular” night at 2YA and a programme of that type will be presented. Light vocal numbers will he given hv Miss Ella Fair and Mr A .W. Beck ford, sopra.no and baritone respectively. Novelty instrumental items will be furnished by Airs Alildred Kenny’s Alandolin Band, the items comprising two groups of popular melodies. Two always welcome entertainers. Air Will AlcKeon and Aliss Alai sic Oakes, will contribute popular songs, duets and humorous numbers and sketches. The Salon Orchestra, under Air Al. T. Dixon, will play. The Dunedin Choral Society is holding one of its finest concerts in the Town Hall, Dunedin, and 4YA will conduct a relay of this performance. Silent day at 3YA. The talk to be given by 'the Home Science Department of Otago University to-morrow afternoon from 4A T \ will be on “Some Suggestions for Children’s Parties.” AVEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER sth. A few weeks ago the Birkenhead Alnnicipal Band, under the direction of Lieutenant J. T, Lighton, made its first appearance at IYA and gave brilliant renderings of many pieces. It, is to perform again this evening. The .assisting vocalists will include Aliss Myra Alonk (soprano) ; Airs B. Jellard (contralto), and that very fine singer, Air A. Gibbons Taylor, bassbaritone. Air Cyril Townsey. AucklancPs brilliant pianist, will be heard in solo in “Andante in F’” (by (Beethoven.)

Wide diversity, ranging from folk songs to operatic, will he found in 3YA’s programme this evening. The quartets will comprise a Swabian and a Hampshire folk song. Two operatic, duets will he sung. There wjll he numerous solos. The singers will he—/Miss Corrie Aslin '(soprano), Aliss Duicie Mitchell (contralto), Mr H. J. Francis (tenor) and Mr J. Graham Young (baritone). Contributing to the programme will be the great concert Hall favourite, Airs K. Hartshorn, efocutiomste, and an instrumental programme will be provided by Aliss A’lerle Miller (pianiste), and the Christchurch Broadcasting trio. Mr Arthur Gordon’s orchestra, which is one of the most popular combinations engaged by dancing enthusiasts in Dunedin, will supply all the instrumental music for 4YA’>s programme. The very latest dance hits and popular melodies will he played, in addition to a banjo solo and a violin solo by two members of the orchestra. Novel items will he found in two vocal duets to be presented by Aliss E. J. Richie and Aliss B. Richie. Air James Paterson, Dunedin’s Harry Lauder, will give items, and Aliss McGregor, eloeutioniste, will present two bright numbers. Silent day at 2YA.

The Home Science talk from IYA, 2YA and 3YA to-morrow afternoon will be on “Spring Cleaning.” The talk has been prepared by the Home Science '.Extension Department of Otago University.
