A SHIPPING FUNCTION
ON JAPANESE STEAMER. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, November 4. .me inauguaration of a direct shipping service between New Zealand and Japan was marked yesterday by a'function aboard the motor ship Brisbane Mam, when Captain R. Yamanoi and Ids olfiers entertained a large gathering of representatives of Wellington Mercantile Shipping and Civil interest.
After inspecting the ship the guests assembled in the saloon where speeches were made by the Mayor of Wellington (Mr Troup) and Mr Kumota (Japanese Trade Commissioner in New Zealand), both expressing a wish for increasing reciprocal trade between the two countries.
