FISHERMAN DROWNED

KKL.Iv OFF LAUNCH AT TIM ABU, TIMARU, November 2. •lack Shaw, aged nineteen, a fisherman was drowned half a mile outside the eastern extension shortly after 2 p.ni. to-day, when lie fell overboard from the fishing launch, Arawa. His companion, George Nicholson, lor whom Shaw worked, had no chance df saving the unfortunate man, as the boat, was going at full 'speed when he saw Shaw disappear into the water. Shaw was wearing long gumboots and was soon dragged undex\. He was engaged in shfting cases of fish at the time and it is presumed! that he tripped and overbalanced. The body has not yet been recovered. The boat is owned by Mr Neil Manning.
