AUSTRALIAN FINANCE
REPORTED IJ.S.A. OFFER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, November 1.
AVall Street circles read with interest the London Daily Afail’s Sydney despatch, printed here, that American trading banks have offered the New South Wales Government 250 million dollars as a loan at six and a half per cent, but they treated the item with considerable scepticism, particularly a phase in which the banks are allegedly ready to make the concession of n large loan for the right to do business in Australia.
One of the leading financial figures of America, informed the Australian Press Association that any talk of an American loan, no matter what size would be premature until “Australia puts its financial house in order.” He further pointed out that there was little likelihood of American trading hanks entering upon any deal 'involving the granting of a loan for business concessions in Australia.
