TO-NIGHT AND TUESDAY
Many a. movie-struck college student an opportunity to finally get into pictures m “So This Is College,” screening at the Princess Theatre tonight and Tuesday. Hundreds of students were' used as extras in this Meti o-Goldwyn-Mayer all-talking comedy of life on the average college campus, giving the film an .authenticity and .- realistic feeling to gotton in no other way. Many of the students i showing conspicuous talent for films ■4 established a contact with Sam Wood, the director, which will stand them in good stead if later on they look to Hollywood for further laurels. “So This Is College” outlines the life of a student from the moment lie steps off the train to the day he says goodbye to Alma Mater The foibles of scholastic and fraternity life are amusingly developed and will give many a fond parent an eye opener as to aa ia son Johnny is laughing at when he is supported to he studying. Sam Mood, director, used a real college campus for rnanv of his outdoor sound locations and the football ground in the final scenes is jammed with 100,000 cheering spectators. Sally 1 arl > Wood’s new screen “find,” makes her debut in “So Tins Is College” and the east includes Elliott Nugent ahd Robert Montgomery, who have, become instant favourites with local audiences. Cliff Edwards, better known as Ukelele Ike,” Max Davidson, Phyllis Crane and Dorothy Dehn are also included in the cast. Don’t miss this picture!
