LORD STONEHAVEN’S TOUR.
WELLINGTON. October‘29. The brief tour which he recently made of the Dominion was sufficient for Lord Stonehaven, until recently Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, to carry away with him golden opinions of the country and its people, ju,doling by his remarks in a private communication to the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom. “Every moment has been interesting,” says Lord Stonehaven, in a letter written to Mr Ransom on the»eve of his departure for Vancouver by the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, a few days ago, “and I take away the happiest memories of the kindiwss of your' fellow countrvmen, r-d of the wonderful work they are doing. I think that the afforestation work at Rotorua struck me as much as the dairying and farming developments, which I have admired both in the South Island nn-cl in the North Island. Your scenery makes travelling a delight everywhere.”
