The Brazil I ian situation is an embarrassing one. A German newspapei correspondent announces that when the German Foreign Office, through . their representative in Rio de Janierio, demanded adequate satisfaction, accompanied by a binding pledge regarding compensation for the recent shelling of the liner “ Baden ”, be replied that the demand coiild not be lodged, owing to the closing of the streets in which three different Generals are vigorously fighting for supremacy. Furthermore, there was no assurance that even if the streets could be penetrated, that current Brazilian Foreign Minister would retain his. position for more than a few hours.
