Mr David Whisker, flautist, is appearing at IYA this evening and will play three very interesting numbers, “Spanish Tanz,” “Badinorie,” will “Russian Romance.” A singer to make her first appearance will by Miss Gladys Barton (soprano). ' She will sing “Coo” and “Under the Doedar” from “The Country Girl” and ,“i Dreamt that J Dwelt” from “The Bohemian! Girl.” Mr Geoff ry C'blledge. who was one of the outstanding performers in the recent production by the Auckland Amateur Operatic . Society of “Tutankhamen,” lias included amongst his items for this evening, “Tutankhamen’s Song.” the music of which is written by Mr Eric Waters. Miss Phyllis James (contralto) will be heard in solos from operas. During the programme another interesting Topical Talk will be given by Mr A. B. Channel I. M. \. Instrumental items contributed by the Studio-Trio will include n violin solo by Mr J. Wliitrord ’Waugh, and a pianoforte solo by Mr Eric Waters. Novelty will he a feature of 2YA’s programme. Messrs V-ille and Yoe, a new duo, Avill sing popular songs to modern style zither harp accompaniment.. an instrument seldom beard in
this country. Theme songs from well known talking films- will be sung by the popular tenor, Mr Dan Foley. Humorous numbers will be given by a
new comedian in the person of Mr W. G. Kitchener. Jazz piano solos will be Mr J. F. Skedden’s contribution to the programme. Mrs Edna Woods, a soprano soloist- well known to Wellington concert audiences, will be heard in three numbers. The Salon Orchestra will play tlie overture “If I were King,” the “Peer Gynt Suite No. 2,” a selection from. “Monsieur Beauoairo” and Ruben.stein’s “Trot de Ca-vnlerie.” During the course of 2YA’s pro"rnmine.,Here will be a relay from the Town Fall of a speech to he delivered bv T.oird Bled i sloe.
JYA will be conducting a relay from Balclutba where celebrations in connection . with the anniversary of the town are to take place-. An excellent programme for tins particular concert has been arranged. In addition to the musical numbers there will he speeches By a Minister of the Crown and bv the Mnv.or of Bnlclrtha, Mr . A. V. White, who will also be presented with a mavorn-l chain bv Air. A. E. Bussell on i iAuilf of the citizens. Among the contributing musical artists will bo Airs Lionel Graham (who as Aliss Roma Buss, was a verv popular 4Y A -soprano). Miss Alva, ATvers (sonra.no). Aliss Mniv garet Miirrnv (sonrano).
