There is unforeseen delay in going on with the erection of Chancellor Ridge hut on the Fox Glacier, due to the continued falls of snow delaying the transport of the material —all of which ha 9 to be man-handled over a very long distance travelling over the ice. The (bulk of tne material is now about half-way up, and at the first opportunity, the remainder of the journey will be accomplished. Large numbers of cattle were on the south roads this week, en route for the stock sale at Matainui to-morrow. Some of the stock was travelled from as far south as Haast and Okuru, while drafts also came from Karangarua .and Doherty Creek.
