RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) SATURDAY, OCTOBER. 25th.

An item of outstanding interest on ii’A’s programme will be the musical medley, ‘ Merry Moments at the Piano” to be given by Ernest and Wendy Luks, this evening. These two performers have had many years of experience on the professional stage in Australia and 'New Zealand. Miss Edna Peace (contralto) and Mr Clinton Williams (baritone), will sing ballads dnd Mr Ivan* Perrin will be heard in several novelty piano sols. Ihe IYA String Octet will play several instrumental items, including the delight, i'ul “Carnibal Suite,” while Mr Leslie Haynes will be heard in a violin solo, “Serenade” (by Toselli). A bright vaudeville programme has been arranged by 2YA. Miss Eileen Miller will be heard in soprano solos, Mr Billy Hart, the popular entertainer, in a group of three popular songs, and Mr Ken Rigby in light baritone solos.

Contralto soles will be rendered by Miss Dorothy McEwan. The lighter portion of the programme will be furnished by a combination new to radio. Messrs Patterson and Hull, a pair of bright comedians who have had professional experience-. The Golden Hula Quintet will play instrumental numbers. There will be a saxophone solo by Mr W. J. Haines and selections by the 2YA Salon Orchestra. Much variety will mark 3YA’s weekend programme, which will be relayed to 4Y\. There will be auto-accordion items bv Mrs R. E. Hodgson sketches J>v the Mascots, soprano solos by Mrs Ralpb\ Sierokowski, popular songs by Mbs Betty Hilliard (mezzo-contralto), tenor solos by Mr David McGill and various selections by the Studio Octet under Mr Harold Beck.

The Church' services to be broadcast on Sunday evening October 26th. will be:

IYA—Baptist Tabernacle. Preacher, Rev. Joseph Kemp.

2YA —St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral. Preacher, Canon Percival James. 3YA—St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Chinch. Preacher, Rev. J. Lawson Robinson. 4Y A—Trinity Methodist Church. Preacher, Rev. H. E. Bellhouse. At 3 o’clock in the a-fternoon, 3YA will. be broadcasting on relay from the Civic Theatre, an address on Christian Science by Judge Samuel W. Greene, of Chicago. MONDAY, OCTOBER 27th. The vocalists at 2YA this evening will include Mrs W. Fraser Morrish (soprano) who will shortly be leaving for Sydney cn holiday. “Brian of Glenaar’.’ and “Spanish Gold,” together with Pinsuti’s “The King’s Minstrel, three excellent songs, should show Mr Wilbur Davies’ fine baritone voice to advantage. Two Hebridean Folk Songs and two Hungarian Folk Songs will be featured by the tenor soloist, Mr Eric Risk worth. Mrs W. E. Britton, a contralto singer with a voice that broadcasts extremely well, will also sing. Recitations will he given by Miss Zena Jupp. The piano soloist will be Miss Molly Cook. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. TYinla, will contribute an instrumental programme. The well known Woolston Band under Mr R. J. Estall will provide a programme from 3YA. A splendid selection of items will be given, including a euphonium solo, “Star of Eve,” to be played by Bandsman Anderson to band accompaniment. Miss Jean Cherry, whose soprano voice is well suited to radio, and Mr Oliver Foote (well known as a 2YA tenor) will he new to 3YA listeners. Other artists will be the. popular Miss Kathleen Johns (mezzo-contralto), Mr Malcolm Miller (baritone) and Mr Denys Cow ('elocutionist).

A special orchestral combination of nine instrumentalists will be performing at 4YA this evening, when the programme will be principally an instrumental one. The assisting vocal artists will be Miss Dorothy Sligo (mezzo-soprano) and Mr W. Duffel 1 (baritone). The instrumental combination contains some of the finest musicians available and they will present classical, operatic and musical selections and other light numbers. Silent day at IYA.
