RADIO PROGRAMME

FRIDAY, OCTOBER. 24tli. Professor J. C. Sperrin-Jolmston, President of the Auckland Zoological Society, will give a talk from IYA this evening, at 7.40 on “Survey of Recent Advancement in Zoology.” The feature of lYA’s concert, programme will he a lecturer-recital on the life and works;,of Liszt, to be given by Mrs Daisy Basham, assisted by Mr Cyril Towiisev, pianist. Mr Victor . Baxter, a young baritone from England, and Miss Jessie Smith will contribute to the supplementary programme. Instrumental items' will be given l>y the Studio Trio, including a cello solo by Miss Lnlla Hemus and a violin solo by Mr Whit ford Waugh. Mr Karl Atkinson will entertain wit*’ a gramophone lecture-recital on “Wagner.” 2YA> programme will feature Signor Lu.eien CesSarom’s Operatic Company in excerpts from Verdi’s popular .opera “11 Trovatore.” The whole of Act 1 will be given, and excerpts of the other parts of the opera will include all the well known and favourite solos and choruses. The. soloist will be Signor I.ucien Cesaroni, who ranks as one of the finest operatic basses south of the Line. Interest will be added/ to this programme by the fact that before each number is presented a brief, explanation will be given by Signor Luoien Cesaroni. Friday is the night for a “Popular Song and Dance” programme at 3YA. Songs by t u e Walencia Quartet will be interspersed by mouth organ items by Mr John Ollacher, cornet solos b’v Mr, N. O. Griffin, and contributions from Miss Elaire M'odv’s Ha.waiian Trio. From 9.30 till 11 p.lll. there will be a dance mimic session.
4YA will be carrying out a relay from Omnniru—“Our Miss Gibbs,” — as.nresented by flic Oamarn Operatic Society. The east is an excellent one. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25th. All item of outstanding interest 011 lYA’s programme will he the musical medley, 'Merry Moments at the Piano” to lie given by Ernest and Wendy Luks, this evening. These two performers have had many years of' experience on the professional stage in Australia and New Zealand. Miss Edna Peace (contralto) and Mr Clinton Williams (baritone), will sing ballads and Mr. Ivan Perrin will be heard in several novelty piano sols. The IYA String Octet will play several instrumental .'items- including the delight, fill “Carnibah Suite,” while Mr Leslie Haynes will he heard in a violin solo, “Serenade” (by Toselli). A bright vaudeville programme has been arranged by 2YA., Miss Eileen Mtiler will lie heard in soprano solos, Mr Billy Hart, the popular entertainer, in a group of three popular songs,, and Mr Ken Rigby in light baritone solos. Contralto soles will be rendered by Miss Dorothy McEwan. The lighter portion of the programme will be furnished by a combination new to radio. Messrs Patterson and Hull, a pair of bright comedians who have had professional experience. The Golden Hula Quintet will play instrumental numbers. There will he a saxophone solo by Mr W. J. Haines and selections by the 2YA Salon Orchestra. Much variety will mark 3YA’s weekend programme, which will be relayed to 4YA. There will be auto-accordion items by Mrs R. E. Hodgson sketches by .the Mascots; soprano solos by Mrs Ralph Sierokowski, popular songs by Mips Betty Hilliard (mezzo-contralto), tenor solos by Air David McGill and various selections by the Studio Octet under Mr Harold Beck.

4YA—Trinity Methodist Church. Preacher, Rev. H. E. Bellhousc. At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, 3YA will be broadcasting on relay from the Civic Theatre, an address on Christian Science by Judge Samuel W. Greene, of Chicago.
