RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company oi' N.Z. Ltd.) * WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd. The two new artists to appear at IYA this evening will- be Masrer T. R,. W. Trafford, with a beautiful well trained soprano voice, and Miss Olive Munroe, contralto, of Tauranga. Mr T. Moffit, the Clarsax Duo (consisting of clarinet and saxophone) and the Studio Trio will contribute items. There will also be a violin solo by Mr Whitford Waugh and a-cello solo, “0 Star of Eve,” by Miss Lalla Henms

The first half of 3YA’s programme will be devoted to the relay oi the Second Annual Childrens Festival of Music from the Civic Theatre, to bo performed under the conductorship oi Mr E. Douglas Tayler and Mr T. Vernon Griffiths. The concert will provide a fine demonstration of the excellent musical training which the children of the schools are now receiving. The second half of the evening’s programme will he contributed by Miss Jean Johnson (contralto), Mr 'Percy A. Caithness (baritone), Miss Irene Morris (violiniste), Mi s Dorothy Davies (pianiste) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. This portion of the - programme will he mainly of a classical nature. The variety concert programme from 4YA will be contributed by Miss Rita Holmes (soprano), Miss M: Somerville (contralto), Mr Jack Clark (bass), Mr J. Paterson (Scottish humour), Mr CD J. Christie and the Kenz Orpheans (playing, popular melodies), Mr G. J. Christie is an artist who has had several contest successes in the capacity of cornet soloist of St. Kilda. Band, as well as in individual competitions. Silent day at 2YA. The Home Science talk from IYA, 2YA and 3YA to-morrow afternoon will he on “Useful Hints of ’Xmas Gifts.”

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23rd. A concert programme to be given by the Auckland Branch of the Alpine Sports Club will he relayed from the Lewis Eady Hall by 1Y T A this evening. The artists apearing on the programme will he Mr W. H. Cocker, Miss Theo Halpin, Mr J. L. Chapman, Miss Hilda Morse, Air Jack Gordon and Professor R. M. Algio. The Wellington Miurcipal Tramways Band; (under the condur torship of Mr E. Franklin) assisted bv 2YA artists will give another of their excellent studio programmes this evening. Bandsman Tnllantvne, one of the finest solo trombone players in New Zealand, will nlay as a solo with band accompaniment a special arrangement of the well known -German ballad “Drinking.” The supporting items will include voca' numbers by the Lyric Quartet (both solo aud concerted), and soprano solos by Miss Esme Crow and novelty piano si os by Mr Claud Bennett.

Four quartettes {throe of them negro spiritual songs) are featured on 3YA’s programme: “Nobody knows the Trouble,” “Oh, deni Golden Slippers,” “Deep River” and “Sweet and Low.” The vocalists will be the Melodious Four—Miss Frances Hamfrton, Miss Millicent Jennings, Mr Russell Sumner and Mr T. D. Williams. Their vocal numbers will comprise du , ets i as well as numerous solos. Two recitations will he given by Miss Ruby Boot. As a violin solo, Miss Thelma. Cusack will play Glazounof’s “Meditation” and an instrumental programme will be provided by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. Silent day at 4YA. Fie civil welcome to be given at noon to-morrow to the admiral and officers of the visiting Dutch warships will be broadcast by IYA.
