Newman’s score is 17,313, including breaks of 493, 228, and 515. Lindrum has scored 12,570, including breaks of 313, 407, 474, and 777. Snooker:— Newman 1108; Lindrum 723.

The Premier and Treasurer Hill, speaking on the third reading of tinTaxation • Bill said it had been necessary to obtain an increased overdraft from the Commonwealth Bank to pay the salaries and wages in the Government service. The, bank reluctantly agreed to increase, the overdraft from £620,000 to £750,000. The Bill, which proposes to increase the income tax rates to Is Id in the pound and land tax to a penny m the pound was passed.
