An inquest was held at the 'Greymouth Courthouse yesterday mornfng, before Mr W. Meldrum, Coroner, into the death of John Diamond Watson, who was electrocuted while using' an Electrolux vacuum cleaner at Runnnga on Sunday 'afternoon lafit. Phe fatality-''proved to have been an extremely extraordinary one, and *s probably the only one of its kindxon record. The Electrolux machine was an old model and was made in Sweden. 'Hie Coroner returned the following verdict:—“That the deceased. John Diamond Watson, came to his death at Runanga on October 19th. 1930, by electrocution caused by a current of 230 volts passing through, his body while ho was using an Electrolux cleaner in cleaning a ear. The Electrolux cleaner appears to have been defective in that loose strands of flexible ivire in tlie handle were touching the frame of the machine, and the fact that deceased trafi standing on sodden ground arid was wearing wet car,pot slippers eoiripleted the circuit of the current.”
