The monthly meeting of the Hokitika Branch was held at the Soldiers’ Hell last evening. Present; Messrs Evans (President), Paterson, Armstrong, Bleach, Bade, Menzies, Appleton, Stuart, Lynch, Hart. Gilchrist and Brown. Permission was granted by tlie Department of Internal Affairs for an art union for gold specimens, and books of tickets lor sale Were d.istrf;>uted. Mr O’Brien, M.|\, wrote ait length in connection with tjie difficulty in securing l an amchdment to the Gaming Act to pcirnit of club euchre tournaments.--
Received with thanks. The balance sheet of the late Old Time. Ball showed receipts £42 16s 3d, mid expenses £l4 5s 3d. leaving a surplus of £2B 11s. It was resolved to express publicly thanks to all who contributed to such a. successful result. 'The Secretary reported a membership of 46, and Mr S. Head was elected a. member The Treasurer reported lthe funds in hand totalled £69 7,s Id. Arrangements were completed for the reunion of members next week, and the Secretary was asked to arrange a date for another Old Time Ball, in response to a general request kjt a gathering similar to tlie previous popular function.
