INDIAN CONVICTS
GIVE PLACE TO NATIONALISTS
I United Press Association--By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. I
DELHI, Oct. 20.
The Bombay Government is faced with the problem .of accommodating five thousand odd prisoners who have been. sentenced for civil disobedience during the last few months. At present there are two hundred convictions daily in the Bombay City area; and the gaols are rapidly becoming overcrowded. Even new concentration eampis and temporary gaols are filled.
The Bombay Government is likely to follow a scheme that has been adopted by- the Punjab and Assam Government and discharge the ordinary convicts for trivial offences in order to make room for political offenders.
Under tliip scheme two thousand prisoners will Ibe released who have served half their sentences, and have had an exemplary record in gaol.
