OLD AND NEW WOOL
BROKERS’ DECISION. WELLINGTON, October 14. Owing to the carry over of a fair proportion of last year’s clip, the local wool brokers will be faced with the handling of considerably larger offerings during the coming season. It is estimated that the quantity of holdover wool in the area controlled »>y the Wellington Association amounts to 28,000 bales. The New Zealand Wool Committee has allocated 30,000 hales for each Wellington sale during the coming season, and the Wellington Woollirookers’ Association has decided that the proportion of old wool to be catalogued at each sale shall be onefifth of the total allowed. This means that the catalogues will he made tip of 24,000 bales of new wool, and 6000 bales of old wool. One-fifth of • 'cl wool will be divided pro rata amongst the various brokers, according to the actual quantity of old wool available for each sale. Realising the difficult times which the sheepfarniers have encountered during the last twelve months, and which, unfortunately continues, the, brokers have generously extended free storage on last year’s clips held in store until December Bth. It is now proposed to extend that concession in the case of old wools up to such time as an opportunity is given to dispose of it, after which the usual storage will app\y. This further concession applies only to those growers who signify their wish to offer their old wool at the first sale.
