At Newark, a beer pipe line, a mile long under the city, was discoverede by Federal police, running from an okl factory in which they apprehended five men, and a million dollars worth of pure uncut Canadian whisky. The haul included five hundred barrels each containing sixty gallons, a hundred cartons of three demijohn each. The whole was labelled with the name, of a well-known ice. cream manufacturer. Federals have subpoenaed the. city police chief to show cause why he allowed the construction of the pipe line. ' The' police deny knowledge of it.
