A FATAL FALL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.* DUNEDIN, October 17. John Dennison for. many years a well known teamster on Otago Central roads, but more, recently engaged in farming, was thrown from a horse and died, yesterday in Cromwell hospital from internal injuries. RADIO LEAGUE. DUNEDIN, October 17. Otago branch of New Zealand Radio Listeners League was constituted at a meeting yesterday with a local membership -of a. thousand. A resolution was proposed expres-. sing the view that the nationalisation of radio transmission was not advisable ; that increased power in A stations was unwarranted, and 4 new •500 watt stations would suffice; : However, a discussion on this resolution was postponed to a lor her meeting. WELL KNOWN TEACHER. CHRISTCHURCH, October 17.. Obituary—Archibald Biunie, aged 7G, a prominent figure in the teaching profession in Canterbury until his retirement in 1912. SLAUGHTER OF STOCK. WELLINGTON, October 14. A commutation of certain fees paid by meat export slaughterhouses to the authority controlling the abattoir in the district is proposed by the Slaughtering and Inspection Amendment Bill, read a first time in the House of Representatives to-day. "... • « The Act of 1908 provided that meat from stock slaughtered in a mea.t .export slaughterhouse should not he sold in a district in which, there existed a registered abattoir available for the slaughter of stock except upon terms of paying to the controlling authority of the abattoir such .fees us .are agreed on, being not less than the fees .that would be chargeable for the use of the abattoir had the stock been slaughtered hfior°. A similar provision is contained in the Auckland City Abattoir Act.. 1924.
The amending Bill proposes that nothing in that provison of t*:e two Acts shall apply in respect of meat from stock slaughtered in meat export slaughterhouses and sold for bacon, barns, tinning, or export.

It was an old single stor-°v building with a portion bailt in 1867 wliep the run was purchased.
