AIR LYSNAR’S EEL TRAP. WELLINGTON, October 15. Reformers \vlri> set out to obstruct the Ai eat Control Act Amendment Bill introduced by Mr Lysnar (Gisborne) -iuand ample material for discussion in uiu House to-night by reviving events ol 19i4, when the promoter endeavoured to oiganise the Reform Party in favour ot his strong measuies against meat trusts. Air Coates, leader of the Opposition, made mysterious references to an allegation by Air Lysnar that lie had secured, tin undertaking from the llefrom Party to back his Bill. He ca,llenger Air Lysnar to prove that any Reform loader gave such an ingMr Lysnar: I have never said it. Reform members followed up this subject, monopolising the debate till 11 p.rn, when Mr Lysnar explained that in 1924 he got a number of Reform members to consider his Bill and bad as assurance from the prime Minister that it would be supported if that committee approved, but he was let down. The member for Gisborne said that ho had withdrawn his Bill last session on the promise of the present Prime Minister that he would get a fair run this session. Answering the. member for Otaki, who described Mr Lysnar’s efforts in .1924 to get Reform support as an invitation into an eel trap, the member.forGisborne declared that he was in the eel trap ten years, but- when the new party came along he commenced to see daylight and selected the best party in the Dominion to do the work. “ lhey are,” he said, “doing more work than other parties, particularly Reform.” ..xr J.
