At Chicago a federation. of churches, which has conducted an extensive inquiry ihto the Lingle killing, cabled dn’ ; ’fj¥ne 9th. to-day issued a report denouncing, the interfraternity of gangdom politicians and the law-en-forcing agencies of Chicago. The federation alleges that police and public officials are dominated by politicians, gangsters and “racketeers”; that at times grafting on public funds and an orgy of crime result in an approach to a breakdown of civil Authority ; that greed for easy money developed an interlocking system oL control which threatens to throttle Chicago civil business and social life. Under various headings the federation lists “Political crooks, dishonest business men, racketeers, gambling, prostitution, and bootlegging is responsible for Chicago’s ‘shame.’ ”
