EVERYBODYS PICTURES. TO-NIGHT ONLY. TWO FAMOUS. STAGE STARS IN | NEW' FILM. The Vitaphone lias brought to the screen another new star in the person of Winnie Lightner, who is coining to the Princess Theatre' on Wednesday only in Warner Bros, production, “She Couldn’t Say No.” Miss Lightner, already famous as a singing comedienne on the'vaudeville and musical stage, is altogether delightful in this new medium*. Sihging her songs in the spirited manner that has made her an international favourite, she is interesting and entertaining every moment on the screen. In “She Couldn’t Sny No Winnie is a wise-cracking night club, singer generous and wise in the ways of the world, and head over heels in ]ove ; with a handsome youilg racketeer who'does not return her love. Chester Morris plays the leading role opposite Miss Lightner. Mr Morris is the brilliant young stage actor who recently entered motion pictures and who has already made a splendid screen reputation as a result of his fine work in various roles of an underworld character. S Other members of the. oast in'this picture include Sally Ellers, - Johnny Arthur .and Tully Marshall. Lloyd Bacon directed. It is a colourful story well told and well acted iri a series of unusually interesting settings.
GLOOM CHASERS. FAREWELL APPEARANCE, THURSDAY. The popular Gloom Chasers Revue Company will make a farewell appearance at the Princess Theatre to-morrow (Thursday) evening when a .complete change of programme will be presented.
