DENTIST FINED
EMPLOYED UNREGISTERED MAN. AUCKLAND, October 10. As a sequel to the prosecution bv the Auckland Dental Association of a man named Headdey, who was fined £3 for practising as an unregistered dentist, Alexander Howey Walker was charged before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court with permitting an unregistered .person to practise. He was fined £3.and costs.
Mr Moody, who appeared for the association, said that it was the aim oi that body to stop the practice of allowing unregistered men to work in surgeries. Mr Terry, who appeared for defendand, said that Headdey was a thoroughly competent man who had beerin the profession for twenty-five years. The reason that he was unregistered was because he had failed to pass all groups of his examinations at the required time. Headdey had actually passed all sections. It was not a serious matter and when Walker found that Headdey had been served with a summons, he had dispensed with his Services. Mr Terry added that in view of the fact that Headdey had already cfeasetl to practise ahd that he had left Ms former employer, the present prosecution seemed rather futile.
