NEXT OLYMPIAD

LOS ANGELES PREPARING. SAN FRANCISCO, September 1.7. The governments of the city and county of Los Angeles, in Southern California, have just awarded die contract for final improvements to lbs Olympic Stadium, in preparation tor the games of the Tenth Olympiad, to he celebrated there from July 3b to August 14, 1932. Improvements now being made include increasing the seating capacity from 75,000 to 105,000 numbered seats; construction of a promenade entirely around the stadium; the installation of offices for committees, officials and juries, and the construction of adequate facilities for the world Press and the sports technical department.

In the Olympic Stadium will be held the athletic events (track and field), gymnastics, horse jumping events, field hockey, opening and closing ceremonies, and the marathon and road cycling races will end there. All facilities in the stadium for the holding of these events will bp completed one year before the opening ceremonies. The track is being improved, and will be seasoned before the games. The playing field inside the track is of sufficent size to permit the playing of football, hockey, and similar games,

The Olympic Stadium .is located in Olympic Park, with,the Fine Arts Museum, swimming stadium and the fencing pavilion. Olympic Park is pear the centre of the business district >f Los Angeles, and is accessible from all partfs of the city. The stadium was budfc in 1923, the year in which the games of the Tenth Olympiad were awarded to Los Angeles.
