STABBING AFFRAY
TWO CHINESE INJURED. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. A stabbing alfrav took place in Tory Street late last night. As a result, two Chinese are now lying in Wellington hospital, and one of them at least, is not expected to live. Both men were wounded in a number of places. They are Yee Wall and Yec Woo. From what could be gathered it appears that four Chinese were sitting at a table at 236 Tory Street, discussing the celebrations of the anniversary of the Chinese Republic, which fell yesterday.
Suddenly about eleven o’clock, it is alleged, one of the men jumped up and stabbed another. The instrument lie is said to have used was a small butcher’s knife, inflicting wounds in the head, back and body.
After that lie is reported to have stabbed himself five times in the region of the stomach. He is not expected to survive. It is stated that the conversation which was taking place prior to the assault was a perfectly peaceful one and the attack was entirely unexpected.
