I beg to report the following works were carried out during the month : iiritan Street foothpatlis between Weld Street and Gibson Quay was gravelled ; Hampden Street footpath in front of Mr McGeorge’s residence, and a quantity spread on Sale Street. . Growth was cut on Hoffman Street “hid .Livingstone Street drain was cleaned out and the growth cut between 'Hampden' and Park Streets, and on upper Tlampden Street, a portion of Gibbon Quay was cleaned and chipped. < Kerbing was put down between Sewell and Tancred Street on Gibson Quay Tor a distance of four and a-half chains Six pipes were put down in Brittan Street'near Mr Schroder’s where the road was narrow, a water course from the school grounds running under the road, needing three extra pipes.on each side. A crossing was . put in at Mr ;Montague’s in- upper Weld Street, and a tree removed from Macandrew Square Stopcocks; were renewed at Mr Staines and; Kilctillen’s in Park Street, some fire plugs were raised, and a number hf leaks repaired, the depth of water in-the ißeseiAoir averaged lift Cun. for the month. ABATTOIR REPORT

. From Manager of Abattoirs reporting for September, there were slaughtered : 9 cows, 32 heifers, 81 bullocks, 218 sheep, l lamb, (3 pigs, 12 calves. Condemned: 1 cow. Fees for month £67 15s 6d, (same month last year £57 10s). —Received. TOWN CLERK’S REPORT. In regard to an electric light on the end of Beach Street, 1 have to report that I have conferred with the Manager, Kanieri Electric, and the lowest power light which can be placed there is 60 c.p., the annual cost being three pounds. The position could not ne met by shifting the electric light in front q?f the Union Company’s Office further north, so a.s to light the top end of Beach Street, as this would leave no light at the west end of Camp street.—Received, and. report aprovod. " The Town Clerk, reported on the cost of erecting street names at intersections, and after discussion consideration was deferred till next meeting.
