A CRASH
MOTH PLANE WRECKED

CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 8. A Moth plane, valued at £6OO, piloted by J.: Grimes, was completely wrecked this when it collided with the roof' of l Wigram aerodrome. •Grimes, who was not injured, was undergoing a•- test at the time. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 8. Grimes, a pupil of the Canterbury Aero Club, was undergoing a test for a pilot’s certificate at ten a.m., the examining' officer ibeing Wiiig-Com- ~' mander Grant *Dalton,, Director of U Air Services.. Grimes .had gone through the early part of .the test, and was doing the figure eight above the roof of the ’drome, when the machine collided with a pole carrying electric power. Carried, on .by its speed, the mach-.k ine then hit the roof and was wreck- . ed. The back of the machine was ; ji (broken and the propeller ; splintered into fragments. The engine was un- ■ banned. >.
