ROYAL DINNER

A DISTINGUISHED COMPANY

LONDON, October 4. Their Majesties the King and Queen, gave a dinner to the Imperial 'Conference Delegates at Buckingham Palace. The. King and Queen received 120 guests, an Empire Family Party, in the Music Room. There were present all the Dominions’ Premiers and chief, delegates, including Mr and Mrs Scullin, Mr and Mrs Parker Moloney and Mr and Mrs Brennans (all of Australia), Mr and Mrs Forbes, Sir T. and Lady Sidey, and Sir T. and Lady Wilford (New Zealand). There was a distinguished company of Britishers, including Air Ramsay MacDonald, Miss Ishbel MacDonald, Mr and Mrs Baldwin, Mr D. Lloyd George, also Navy, Army and Air Force representatives. The guests passed through the Blue Drawing Room to the Great Ball Room, where they had dinner. Masses of gold chrysanthemums decorated the table, and the soft lights of the candledra. shone on the mangificent gold plate. The King and Queen sat opposite each other in the middle of the long Duinbell table. The Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, Princess Mary, Lord Harewood. the Duke of Connaught, Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught were intermingled with the Dominion visitors. The Queen wore a gown of sapphire blue and silver pailette, with a diamond tiara collar and also the Kohinoor Diamond and the lesser Stars of Affrica.

A string band played throughout the dinner, and afterwards the Scots’ Guards’ Pipers. was the first occasion on which the Dominion Delegates besides the premiers had been honoured by Their Majesties at dinner.
