WHITE RATA BLOOM
DISCOVERY AT WHANGAR-El. Three members of 'the Whangarei Ladies’ Gardening Club made q,, valuable discovery while exploring; pii the Western Hills hush for -specimens. They came upon a white rata bloom, a specimen .which is almost as rare as a swallow in winter.
The flower was perfect in,..... every detail, being as wide across ns.’n small cauliflower. The rata blooms in three colours, red, white, and yellowy with many variations, but? pure white and pure yellow blooms are exceedingl,' rare... , 1 ■■"''//
In fact’ the''lucky lady, who’is.recognised as an, authority on bush -lore, says she. lias previously seen,a,white rata. The climber blooms spasmodically, and several years may/’/elapse before the Western Hills specimen breaks into bud again.
