FUEL FROM BLUEGUMS.
111 Australia, the home of the eucalyptus and in New Zealand, where the “gum trees” have been so thoroughly acclimatised, close interest might be taken in a line of research laterly developed in Spain. There are no deposits of petroleum of commercial importance in Spain, and the need for a native fuel oil lias led to the investigation of forest products. Good results have been obtained from the eucalypts which have been grown in great numbers, by capturing the waste gases when the wood is converted into charcoal. The condensed eculyptus gases, it is claimed, make quite a useful fuel for internal combustion motors.
