— CONFERENCE AT WELLLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 3. A conference of delegates from various art societies in the Dominion was held to-day, the discussions being of quite an informal nature, but one of the subjects being dealt with is a proposal of the Royal British Colonial Society of Artists to hold in London next year a representative exhibition of art from all parts of- the British Empire. Tlie proposal is that an exhibition shall, he held in the galleries of the Royal Academy of Arts for eight weeks from early in January to the middle of March. The English organisation expects that there will be no difficulty in providing space for about sixteen hundred pictures and bronzes, the average number accommodated in the rooms of the Royal Academy. Prior to this mornng’s meeting the Governor-General paid an unofficial visit tii the Art Gallery, where the conference is being held. He was received by the members of tlie council and introduced to the delegates, after which he inspected the pictures.
